A month late, but I wanted to highlight my favorite senior sessions from Fall 2020 and congratulate them on their incredible milestone of graduation High School!
While I have played around with senior photography since high school, my first official session under my business was for Maclovia. She was SUCH a trooper.

We texted about her session late one night and then realized with both our schedules that the only time we could do it was the next day... for a sunrise shoot... at 6am. Based on the drive to the location (beautiful Red Rocks in Morrison, CO!) and getting ready I think she was up at 4:30! Even waking up that early she was such a joy to work with and looked absolutely flawless too!
Both of these sessions happened during a rough summer of crazy wildfires in Colorado. The morning of Maclovia's session there was thick haze and a bright red sun shining through all the smoke. Thankfully the smoke resulted in beautiful soft light long after the sun came up that morning and made for perfect photos.

As we worked through the session we chatted about what she hopes to do after high school. Maclovia is hoping to go to school in Oregon and wants to be a doctor, specifically an obstetrician. There is no doubt this girl is going places and she's going to crush it!
After her shoot, Maclovia referred her friend, Cherokee to me for senior photos as well. Cherokee chose Evergreen Lake for her location and I was so excited! She has childhood memories from this location so I was so excited to capture her senior portraits there as well. (I'm a sucker for sentiment!)

When we got to the Lake for photos we had really harsh, intense sunlight that made things difficult for me to get the look I was hoping for. Because of this we spent some time at the waterfall in the shade and worked our way back around the lake as the sun set and the light became softer.

As we made it back to the boardwalk over the marshy area the smoky skies provided the most beautiful colorful sunset. Between Cherokee's gorgeous pink hair and the sunset we were able to get the perfect, moody and picturesque photos.

Talking with Cherokee through her session I was able to find out that she was able to get her Cosmetology License through her High School. If her perfect, vibrant pink hair was not evidence enough, Cherokee is clearly a talented cosmetologist and also has the spirit to overcome any challenge that comes her way.
I'm definitely late to the party but didn't want to miss the chance congratulate these amazing young ladies and thank them for their patience being my first 2 seniors sessions!
If you're looking for senior photos for yourself or your senior student, reach out today! I'm always up for unique senior photo ideas and locations and would love to capture just exactly who you are!
Great shots of the "senior" young ladies! I think you caught their personalities! Congratulations to both of them.
